Ol Racer, Mike Pogue, Thank you so kindly. THAT IS the car I was talking about. What a gorgeous car! These NCRA Supermodifieds were some cars to see! I also saw that Harold Leep was one of the drivers of the month. I saw him first hand MANY times in that supermodified pictured at 81 Speedway, Thunderbird, Tulsa, OKC and if you beat him, he was probably having an off night! THANKS TO BOTH OF YOU GENTLEMEN AGAIN FOR THE PHOTO!!!

Gerry, I traveled for about 16 years as a road musician and "I've been EVERYWHERE man..." and I have watched these cars at Tulsa, OKC, Lawton, T-Bird, Wichita, Hutchinson, Rapid City, anywhere they were racing and I wasn't playing. Anyone who missed this era HAS MISSED SOME RACING! These cars were GORGEOUS AND FAST! RACING FROM THE PAST has a TON of pics of these cars listed under Okla supermodifieds and Texas Supermodifieds. I spend a lot of time looking at these pics over, and over, and over, and...Gotta check it out. Thank you again for posting this photo. Don always had some good looking cars.

Wagonmaster, as usual, great pics. The 21 car, Lloyd K. Stephens car was THE car to drive at the time. I've watched Jerry Stone many times as well as Ron Shuman in it. I think Shane Carson drove it too. GOOD STUFF!!!!!!

larryfreeman here is another great shot with Harley and Phil Sangster. Once again Thank you to Mike Pogue for contributing this picture. For those of us that knew Phil, I am still wondering how in the heck he got in that car. Attachments:

GREAT PICS! Thanks Mike and OlRacer. I do remember Phil having that car as well as R.A. King having a similar car. Those were the Don Edmunds style cars. Don was a real hot shoe and genius builder and innovator out in California. I believe Bud Carson came up with the type cars Harley drove or was instrumental in that type of car. They were the 100" wheel base cars and they were gorgeous. When they came along, I remember some Razorback drivers modifying their old coupe style modifieds in to a "bug" I believe was the term used. GREAT photos. I would LOVE to see those style modifieds return versus the cars I see today, nothing personal to anyone but those cars were classic. Thanks again for the photos. And I believe they wedged Phil in with a flat shovel as there is no shoe horn that big. Phil was a big guy!Actually, after looking at the photo again, Phils car looks like a LaVerne Nance style car. Regardless,Both cars are beautiful cars.

Here are two great pics once again contributed by Mike Pogue. How many remember this car? Wonder how old Tilly was when these were took. This would be a great car to find for it's history value. Tilly told me a while back he thought the car went to Texas, so if any of you guys in Texas know about this car let us know we would like to bring it home to Arkansas. Attachments:
