Sallisaw. I think it was about 66-69 as my dad worked there with Bob Vaughn in the pit area. He worked at Razorback, Mighty Mouse, and Tri-State also with Bob Vaughn.

The book I have America's Speedways just calls it Sallisaw.circa 1967 til 1974.Ive noticed when it says circa.It could mean just around that time give or take a few years.But you know how things kinda fade over the years.Probably called that but you know how people refer to the area where the track was.

There was even a sooner raceway in Ringwood,OK.A 1/4 mile dragstrip.

I can remember seeing the sign showing where to turn off to go to Sooner Speedway, but I never made it there as a kid. It had closed before I started driving. A friend stop there several years ago and he said all that was left was part of turn 3 I believe or maybe turn 4.

I think Sooner's last year was 1970.
