That looks like a "high dollar" ride for back in the day. The driver look's well dressed too!! I don't think many had uniforms or driving shoes at that time. I had to look the answer up,so I'll let others try....but the tire kinda gave me a clue! LOL

Olracer55, I believe that driver is Chick Shaddox out of Jane,Mo. He always had great looking cars! Love your picture under your user name. That was a pic of my dads track, Sequoyah County Speedway in Roland Okla from about the early to mid 60s. He then helped Jim Morgan with Crawford and Bob Altes with Razorback as well as Sooner Speedway in Sallisaw and Mighty Mouse/ Tri-State. As an artist I have done a BUNCH of pen-ink drawings and watercolor of many, many cars from the above mentioned tracks from the 60s-70s era. LOVE THIS SITE AND FORUM!!!!!

You win, welcome to OVRA Larry. That pic under my screen name was driven by Bob Tankersly my brother helped build that car and built the motors for it. That car was the first race car I ever sat in and as a kid that steering wheel was hugh. The white #37 coupe on the home page is Chuck Chronisters old coupe that ran at Sallisaw and Crawford. It now belongs to Vic Bockholt. Here is another one of Chicks old cars. Attachments:

I have a drawing of that car, the coupe. Chick always had some good looking cars. I LOVED those old super modifieds. Chuck raced at my dads track too. My dad was James Freeman. I've seen a LOT of great racing in the NW ARK, OK, KS,area and sure miss those old days. I remember the wreck with Harley Estes in the fence at Razorback, Jim Farmer and Slayton Durrett. A lot of GREAT racing at Razorback. I used to love to see the OK. guys drive in on Saturday to do battle with, Schoenfeld, Burris, Tennant, Sangster, Wofford, Chester Stevens and so many more. Back then it was all open trailers and it was always exciting to be driving down the road and come upon a race car being trailered to some track somewhere. In the pic of the 17 coupe is a sedan#77 I believe that was Stan Durrett, Slaytons brother? Would love to post some of my paintings of those old cars but don't have a clue. WHAT A GREAT SITE!!! Glad to be part of this! I also have a pen-ink- watercolor of Jim Farmers 58 on opening page, neat car.

Wow! .25. What!? Just two classes, not 6-7? That is neat. Anything like that is fascinating to see where we are and where we came from. There was a site somewhere I saw a long time ago that had a few pics of Sooner TODAY and it is my understanding that the owner of the land stopped allowing people to come see it or something to that effect. Not much left anyway.
